Important: Proper torque sequence and angle tightening is critical to prevent head gasket failure.
Torque Sequence
Always tighten bolts starting from the center and work outward in a crisscross pattern.
3.0L Torque Procedure
- Tighten all bolts to 33 ft-lb
- Turn each bolt 90°
- Turn each bolt an additional 90°
Important Notes
- Do not reuse old head bolts (torque-to-yield design)
- Lightly oil threads and bolt heads before installation
- Use a torque angle gauge for accuracy
- Follow proper torque sequence at all times
